Hyperdeck don't spill over on start

I notice after loosing some iso recording, that when you turn on a hyperdeck and the default disk is full, it won't do spill over and record on the completely empty secondary disk. It does splill over when it fills it up, but if you for what ever reason restart the hyperdeck or just happen to forgot to clean your main disk, hyperdeck just refuse to record anything, you have to go manually and select the other disk.

Am I missing something? A setup that I'm not aware?
How is this not a bug and fix already?

I would assume when you press record, hyperdeck should do "best effort" to do it, like automatically switching to the empty disk
