Video latency with Studio Camera and ATEM via Ethernet

PostMon Sep 02, 2024 7:20 pm

Has anyone used the BM Studio Camera 6K Pro ethernet port to send video to an ATEM?

I have successfully setup the video output and tally, and the switcher receives it correctly, except that there is a latency of about one second. Is this the expected performance? The connection is one Cat6 cable directly from camera to one of the ethernet ports on an ATEM Television Studio HD8 ISO. I have even tried the "low latency" setting, with no significant change.

The answer lies within the second post in the thread link below, submitted by Gary Adams of Blackmagic Design.

The area of interest being:

"The second and new purpose of the Ethernet on the camera is to "stream" to various places including the ATEM Streaming Bridge and now the new ATEM Television Studio HD8 as an input. I want to offer a couple of important points about the streaming as it is the same H.264 streaming utilized in other Blackmagic products like the ATEM Mini and Web Presenters. There will be a 1-2 second delay in the stream so it may not be the best for a local studio setup as it was intended to be from a remote site."
