[SOLVED] No audio from Ultrastudio Record 3G

PostTue Sep 24, 2024 9:25 pm

Hi everyone. I've been looking around for a solution to this to not result and I'm stumped.

I have an Ultrastudio Record 3G that I've had hooked up to my Mac Mini since earlier 2022 that used to work fine. At some point between software updates and OS updates its stopped passing audio to the mac. I get video just fine, but there is not any sound in OBS, Media Express, or even the meter in sound settings.

I've seen this issue on MacOS Sonoma (14,1 and 14.4.1) and Sequoia (15.0 and 15.1) on both my Mac Mini and my Macbook Air. Both machines are Intel based. I've tried 3 different Thunderbolt cables (1 TB3 and 2 TB4) without change.

I have an EVGA XR1 that when hooked it up worked fine. I plugged it into the USB-A ports of the mini and unplugged the HDMI from the Recorder 3G and plugged it into the XR1. When that knowledge I picked up another Recorder 3G thinking mine might have died and the new one doesn't have audio either.

At this point I think this is a setting somewhere, but my Googlefu is failing to find a solution. I'd appreciate any help you all can provide.

EDIT:
Whelp I resolved this waiting for this to be approved.

I hooked my Macbook and one of the Recorder 3Gs up at my desk and it worked flawlessly. So I bypassed all the get between the source and the Recorder on my Mac Mini and it worked there too. So started tracing back from the source to the record and it came to be the Amazon Basics HDMI Splitter.
