Strangely there is a missing feature on the otherwise extremely complex and powerful ATEM Software Control, when sources become active by macro switching: main buttons on PGM bus (and also PVW bus) does not follow the active tally status as actually exists on the physical tally connector of the GPI & Tally interface.
See the first example in the attached snapshots, where an ATEM video switcher (model ATEM 1 M/E Constellation HD in this case) shows no active inputs by just looking at the PGM bus buttons in the BMD ATEM Software Control and so the user might have no idea what physical inputs are perhaps ON AIR. At that same time, the electrical contacts on the GPY & Tally interface *are* active in relation to whatever video inputs happens to be active at the time (as defined in macro).
The second example in the attached snapshots is from my custom ATEM switching software, which, among other things, I built to overcome this problem. Same physical video switcher, same instantaneous status. Matter of fact, before viewing with my wxATEM software this feature already implemented at the video switcher firmware level, users in my work location were completely unaware that the hardware tally interface actually works in macro scenarios, but in blind.
So, feature request – implement the tally on PGM (& PVW) bus buttons in the ATEM Software Control, to simply follow what the GPI & Tally interface already knows how to be aware of.
