PostThu Jun 13, 2024 3:50 pm

I have an ATEM 1 ME Constellation updated to 9.5
The options in ATEM set up for device name and network settings are greyed out
How do I unlock them?

Thanks!!

Are you connected via ethernet or USB. If ethernet, then try USB Connection. Via ethernet it shouldn't allow you to change the ethernet address because that's your connection to it .

Once you are in settings, there is a box you can check under "Allow utility administration" to change from just USB to USB and Ethernet.

Same problem all are grayed out. Everything used to work fine, no changes to anything.

Update: tried different cables, restart everything, still same result. Device does not show as a USB-C device in device manager and no recognition of UVC when only UVC device connected.

I had the same greyed-out issue, suspected a USB driver issue and did the following:

Go into Device Manager, delete all items marked USB Composite Device, then reboot. Any attached USB peripherals should automatically reinstall their driver. When I did this, everything previously grey turned back on. It might not be the fix in your scenario, but it's one at least to try.

NB: This issue becomes a problem where you have elected to have USB control only in ATEM Setup and are effectively "locked out" as ethernet therefore isn't an option, so suggest that when ATEM access is regained, hit the button for both USB and Ethernet control.

I have tried all these things diligently a number of times: no change. I have eliminated things like bad USB cable connection etc (none of this was previously changed). It reads connected drives through a hub exactly as always.

I've tried running as administrator, running as user, etc.

BMD Tech Support is there some registry key, file, etc that I can delete to reset this issue? This seems to have started with the latest Blackmagic_ATEM_Switchers_Windows_9.6.2. Is there a power on reset key combination so I can try that?

It works fine via IP, but just will not allow me to change admin via USB/IP.

Is there a telnet or other command I can send it to enable USB+IP admin?

Please advise.

You use the windows regedit utility (aka Registry Editor) to edit the registry - but you'll need to know what key and where it's stored in the registry file.

Hit the Windows key and start typing registry to find the editor.

Do you know what registry keys to edit or change specifically or strings to search for ?

I have uninstalled BMD ATEM software both ATEM software control and setup, restarted and searched the entire registry for “ATEM”, and “BlackMagic Design” in keys, names and values. I didn’t delete ones for DaVinci Resolve, only for ATEM.

I also searched all drives for any folders containing those strings included in roaming user parameters folders etc and deleted them all by hand. It took a long time.

I then disconnected and restarted the computer, set the ATEM to debug mode and reinstalled the original 2020 ATEM Software control MSI and allowed flashing it back to the original state it shipped in to me. I restarted again and still get the exact same result which suggests to me that there is some parameter set in the ATEM itself that for some reason beyond the ability final these steps to alter is preventing allowing me to change the admin parameters to permit both IP and USB based admin.

This is why I’m asking BMD staff to please reply in case there is some Telnet commands etc or perhaps some registry alteration I can mak to change whatever parameter is seemingly graying out and locking me out of altering the Admin via USB and IP parameters. I also don’t really understand what caused this to happen.

I have no problem with doing a deeper level reset and complete reinstall etc as long as I can find a way to actuallt solve it because now tried all of these ideas as far as I can think.

I’ve used this device successfully for thousands of hours over years now and actuallt bought a second one as well, but I really would like some help with this problem because there’s clearly something going on here that isn’t documented and I can’t figure out how to solve by all these “standard” methods.

Please advise?

I'm not sure why you're looking for registry settings?

The option to allow IP management of a device is stored in the actual device. You will need to connect to the Atem with a USB cable to change the setting.
