We had a repeated problem with BMD DuoLink 2 card configuration changing on it's own. The bigger problem is we can't change it back! If someone else has this problem I have a solution below.
This is on a Windows 11 Dell Desktop and we use ProPresentor. We have the most recent version of Desktop Video Setup and drivers, version 14.2.
Our correct (normal) configuration is four ProP screens to 4 ATEM inputs.
Channel (ProPresentor Screen) 1 is using connector 1.
Chan 2 is conn 2. Chan 3 is conn 3. Chan 4 is conn 4.
Some days it would randomly change it's configuration…
The incorrect configuration is:
Chan 1 is using connectors 1 & 2.
Chan 2 is using connectors 3 & 4.
Chan 3 & 4 are not assigned (because there are no more connectors.) This leaves ProP with only two output screens.
The problem is it CAN NOT be changed back. I changed Chan 1 to connector 1, save it, then reopen it and it is still connector 1&2. Over and over.
Occasionally a reboot would fix it. Often not. We are unable to fix it. And then all of our Companion configuration is useless and our automation is gone. We're left scrambling patching together a church service from the ATEM SW and our two working ProP outputs.
The fix I found today is to open Windows Device Manager, expand "Sound, Video and Game Controllers", right click on the first Blackmagic Duo 2 item, chose Disable device. It will ask if you are sure. Then it will ask to restart the PC. Do the restart. When it comes back up, go back to Device Manager and enable the Blackmagic Duo 2 item. Open Desktop Video Setup and the normal configuration is back. Yeah!
Hopefully, this helps someone else. We've struggled with this problem for months. I had been assuming the hardware was failing. I haven't seen anyone else reporting this problem. So hopefully this helps someone else.
