Decklink Duo 2 drop out and HDMI lock up

PostSun May 16, 2021 5:32 pm

We have other devices attached to the decklink but the affected signal chain is as follows:
M1 Mac mini in a sonnet xmac enclosure with a Decklink Duo 2
Sdi to hdmi micro converter
BenQ SP890 Projector

An event occurred that caused; the decklink to disconnect from the Mac (all decklink feeds dropped and it didn’t show up in the video setup application), and the projector’s hdmi input to lock up (had to power cycle it to get it to see any input change). The micro converter seems fine. This event occurred pre-run-through, and again 5 min before show time, but was then rock solid the rest of the day. Trying to figure out what happened so it doesn’t happen again.
Restarted everything multiple times while troubleshooting both times.

Thanks all!

Did you ever find a solution to this or the cause of this disconnection? Might have some more information to add.

We have a similar problem in that our signal chain is M1 Mac mini (OS Ventura) inside a Sonnet Xmac enclosure with a Decklink Duo 2 outputting over SDI to three screens via Propresenter 7.

The issue - anytime a user navigates to the audio/sound icon in the Mac OS menubar, the Decklink Duo 2 disconnects from the chassis and output is lost. Decklink only reconnects upon restart of the MacMini.

We've reproduced this many times deliberately to verify but have not found a solution to fix. We have tried reinstalling Blackmagic Desktop Video multiple times, updating firmware of Decklink Duo 2, and swapping Thunderbolt 3 cable supplied from Sonnet.

We are considering upgrading the OS to Sonoma but have not as of yet.

Hey All,

I have the same problem with a DeckLink Duo2 in an xMac enclosure from sonnet. Just updated to MacOS Sonoma and am still having the same problem. Still no fix?

It seems that whenever the problem happens, it actually shuts off all devices connected to the thunderbolt card in the sonnet. I had a monitor on a dongle and it shuts off, along with the DeckLink when:

- User hits the speaker icon in top bar
- User opens Wifi settings in System Settings app (although the decklink just seems to disappear here, instead of fully going away / shutting down)
- User opens Sound settings in System Settings app
- User opens Display settings in System Settings app

This does not happen when a user opens Audio MIDI setup and chooses a device there.

The DeckLink and other thunderbolt devices seem to restart on their own after about 45 seconds.

will submit more details when I figure more out.....

Turns out that for my case, it was WiFi and Bluetooth being on, which is in fact listened as an issue on the sonnet website for the xMac Mini Server chassis.

It interferes with the Thunderbolt card I guess.
