Best PTZ Camera to Match with BMD URSA G2, Stu

PostFri Nov 08, 2024 6:19 pm

Hey everyone,
We've been holding out for a PTZ camera from Blackmagic Design to round out our live production 4K broadcast system, but it seems like it may be a while before BMD ventures into the PTZ market (if at all).

In the meantime, we’re looking for the closest match to Blackmagic cameras in terms of image quality, color science, and overall look. We’ve tested PTZ Optics, but found their video quality lacking. Canon’s PTZ lineup is better in terms of image fidelity, but I'm wondering if there’s anything even closer to the BMD aesthetic.

Does anyone have experience with a PTZ camera that pairs well with Blackmagic cameras in a multi-cam setup? Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!

Middlethings make some pretty interesting solutions for usings BM cams as PTZs but they’re a long way from plug and play. Panasonic UE 150, 160s are nice and have a 17 way color corrector to match just about anything but they’re not cheap.

Good Luck
