Newbie Multi-Display Question

PostTue Dec 10, 2024 6:52 pm

Hello Everyone! I am completely new here and this question has likely been asked and answered multiple times, but I am struggling to find it so bear with me here.

I have an existing setup at my church where the front of house projector comes from a DeckLink Duo via SDI to a BiDirectional SDI/HDMI Micro Converter. I want to take this signal and split it into two new televisions that will be replacing the projector eventually. I don't really want to remove the projector from the equation just yet so I would like for it to remain functional for at least a little while longer. So essentially, I want to take the signal that currently goes to the projector and also send it to the two new TVs.

What is the best configuration of converters or other devices to make this happen?

Thanks in advance!

Place a BiDirectional SDI/HDMI Micro Converter at each TV and SDI daisy chain them all together.
i.e. Decklink>SDI>BiDi 1>SDI>BiDi 2>SDI>BiDi 3

Hi Todd

Welcome, this forum is to help each other.

Blair's answer is correct.

Just I'll just expand on it a bit more, a simple way.

You already have a Bi-Directional converter, that converter receives the SDI signal from DeckLink card and converts it to HDMI for the projector, but at the same time the SDI output of that converter is a "LOOP" of the same SDI input signal, (Really the SDI signal is processed, in simple words, amplify it) so you use the SDI output to transport the signal to a second Bi-Directional Converter on the First TV, again, you use the SDI output to transport the SDI signal to a Second TV.

Other option:
Add an SDI Distribution, to "multiply" DeckLink card SDI output, and transport the signal over SDI (3 SDI cables) directly to each device / each BiDirectional Converter (projector, TV-1, TV-2).

My 2 cents

Thanks for the answers. I was pretty sure that this was the answer before I ever even posted, but it never hurts to ask.

Thanks again!
