Hi everyone,
I’m setting up a YouTube studio and need advice on the best way to connect and record from my four Sony A7S cameras simultaneously. My goal is to streamline the workflow, including:
1. Recording and Storing:
• Recording all 4 feeds directly to Frame.io cloud (or a similar cloud service).
• Simultaneously recording locally on my Mac Studio M2 Max.
2. Monitoring:
• Viewing a live feed of all 4 cameras on my Mac Studio monitor or separate external monitors.
• Ideally, multi-view or individual feeds on monitors.
3. Equipment I Have:
• Cameras: Four Sony A7S cameras.
• Memory Cards: Sony 320GB CFExpress Type A Tough cards (8 cards total).
• Audio: Sennheiser MKH 416 P48 microphone (connected via XLR).
• Computer: Mac Studio M2 Max.
• Monitor: 2 x Apple Studio Display.
• Current Monitor: Feelworld 7-inch Touch Field Monitor with HDMI in/out.
4. My Goals:
• A seamless workflow for high-quality 4K recordings from all cameras.
• Sync audio from the Sennheiser microphone to the video feed.
• Ensure recordings are accessible in real time for post-production (via cloud or local storage).
• Minimize the need for swapping memory cards if possible.
5. Blackmagic Products I’m Considering:
• ATEM Mini Pro ISO or Extreme ISO: For live switching and recording multiple feeds.
• Blackmagic Video Assist: For monitoring and individual recording.
• Blackmagic Cloud Pod: To handle proxy uploads to Frame.io.
• Other Blackmagic or compatible products: Open to suggestions for the most efficient setup.
I’d love to hear from those with experience using Blackmagic products or similar setups:
• What’s the best way to achieve multi-camera recording, monitoring, and syncing audio in this context?
• Can Blackmagic products help me integrate with Frame.io for direct cloud uploads?
• How can I ensure all cameras are perfectly synced and controlled (e.g., start/stop recording together)?
Thanks in advance for your guidance! Looking forward to building a setup that gets the job done efficiently.
