Comm from ATEM or through Fiber Converter?

PostThu Jan 16, 2025 1:01 am

We have 5 URSA Broadcast cameras using Studio Fiber Converters to Camera Fiber Converters. We have a few Clearcom IF4W4s turning our normal 2-wire party line into several 4-wire connections that go into the DB25 connector on the fiber converters. We can all communicate fine with each other, both on our wired beltpacks and with our DX210 wireless beltpacks.

We have elected to not use a headset with the ATEM, and stick whoever is mixing onto a belt pack.

Would it be better to run perhaps ONE 4-wire connection into my Constellation and have IT distribute comms to all the cameras? Or am I better off to keep using several IF4W4s and giving each camera its own connection?

I have similar cameras and fibre backs. I tried headsets with the fibre backs and found that the level between cameras was fine but the switcher was low and difficult to hear. Any volume changes didn't seem to help so I use separate wireless comms instead.
