ATEM Mini Extreme ISO: Picture Freeze During Livestream

PostMon Jan 20, 2025 9:50 pm

This has been driving me nuts for months. Suddenly, during livestreams, the video freezes. Audio continues with no problem. I run the ATEM through a Mac Studio, that's brand new, and broadcast with Streamlabs. When I change scenes in Streamlabs, the broadcasted picture changes and moves with no problem, but when we return back to the scene with the ATEM as a source, it's still frozen. The recordings off of the ATEM do not reflect this problem. No one action seems to trigger it. Sometimes it doesn't happen at all during a livestream. My feeling is that it's an issue somewhere between the ATEM Mini and the Streamlabs software, but I'm at the end of my rope trying to figure this out as I'm not a tech-oriented person. I called Blackmagic's support but it was clear that the person wasn't getting what my issue was and gave me a fix for a completely different issue.

Has anyone else encountered this or have a clue as to what it could be and how I can fix it? I appreciate your input.

Change the USB-C cable. In theory any cheap USB-C data cable should work (in webcam mode it’s only using USB2.0). However, a really decent USB-C 3.2 spec cable often eliminates issues like yours and it’s much more useful for other tasks.Oh and if you’re using a hub don’t burden it with too much stuff or better still avoid the hub.
