Trying to connect an ATEM 2 M/E Production Studio 4k to OBS

Trying to migrate away from using an Extron SMP 111 which is having some issues currently at our Church for live-streaming.

The setup currently out of the ATEM is SDI out into a Black Magic SDI to HDMI converter and HDMI into the Extron.

I tried taking the HDMI out from the converter and into an iMac running OBS using a thunderbolt hub with no luck getting a source. I then tried straight into my M4 Macbook's HDMI port with no source found either. Do I need a capture card?

Sure .. HDMI ports you tried is for output .. not input ..

Awesome thanks! Yeah I kinda figured it output only. I couldn't find any specs saying if it was bidirectional or not.

HDMI is not bidirectional .. NEVER .. It have only special ARC (audio return channel) ..
