Bug Studio Cameras after importing Presets from BMPCC

PostMon Mar 31, 2025 3:38 pm

Hello, I wanted to tell you about a bug on my Studio Cameras (a G1 and a G2):

I have four BMPCC 4K (Firmware 8.6) and 2 Studio Cameras 4K Pro (Firmware 8.2). Who knows why, I can't put a more recent version when we're at 9.3.

I created a preset on BMPCC (with a lot of precise settings, the ones I use most often during multi-camera recordings). I copy this preset to an SD card and then import it into each of the BMPCCs. To import it into the Studio Cameras, I copied the preset of the SD card to an SSD that I connect sub-c to the Studio Cameras. I import it into each one.

If I turn off and then turn on the Studio Camera, the menu changes in the Gain section which is usually in db on these cameras and are found in ISO (probably following the import from BMPCC where it is in ISO). Then, it is no longer possible to change the gain with the touch menu: the functions are displayed, the cursor moves but this has no effect on the camera. On the other hand, if I control from ATEM Software, it works.

I did not find any other solution than a camera reset and then recreate a preset in one STudio Camera and copy it on the other.

This can be used by others at or Blackmagic to fix this bug. It took me a while to understand that it came from the preset.

Warmly

Camera connected to atem will be set up with atem configuration.if you want to change set up you should change it from atem software you can do a macro to do for all cameras at the same time

Hello, and thank you for your participation. But I don't think you answer my problem.

I know I can change some camera settings from Atem Software Control. But there are quite a fea settings specific to the cameras that are only made through the menu of each one. Hence the method by presets exported between cameras.

I was just pointing out that you should not copy a BMPCC preset on a Camera Studio under penalty of finding this big that I described to you

I dream of being able to display the menu and modify ALL the settings remotely from the viéo control via the software control... But what do I dream about it!!

Copy the settings from a Pocket 4K to a Studio Cam? Why not copy the preset to an Ursa 12k, or maybe a smart toaster? If there’s a bug it’s that the camera allows a preset to be loaded from a different model cam, unlike the toaster.

I’m guessing there must be a bunch of 400/501 type errors. If the only problem is the gain thing maybe you can delete the poisoned bit of syntax from the CSV/XML/JSON or even force it back to db using PUT/video/gain from the API.

Good Luck
