Need some help using SDI to analog to display on a CRT TV

PostSun Apr 13, 2025 3:33 am

Hello all,

I'm having some trouble when trying to output video from my Macbook Pro to my CRT TV. I am using a combination of an HDI to SDI converter and a Blackmagic SDI to Analog Mini Converter. I got the idea from a Youtube video using the same setup. I may be misunderstanding something about how this all works, but I've got the same setup, namely a cheaper HDMI to SDI converter from Amazon and the Blackmagic SDI to Analog converter.

I'm hoping to output composite video to my CRT TV using an RCA cable. I have all switches turned off except for 1 and 5 on the Blackmagic converter, and I've set up my Macbook Pro to mirror the display onto the HDMI to SDI converter. From there the SDI out goes into the Blackmagic converter, and from there out to the TV using an SDI to RCA converter. I get no signal, and I've tried a lot of different things with no luck. I've tried different combinations of dipswitches (though it seems these 2 make the most sense), I've tried different ports on the converter to make sure I don't have something wrong there, I've tested the cables, and nothing seems to work. I just get no signal on the TV.

Any ideas on this? Apologies if i am just completely missing something obvious, I'm a bit new to this type of converter. Thank you!
