Simple Tally solution for an ATEM 2ME Production studio 4K

PostFri Apr 11, 2025 6:51 am

After switching from an ATEM camera which had tally light via the secondary SDI to another camera model I have lost the tally light function.
Now I am looking for a cheap and simple alternative.
It is just one camera but it is 10 meters from the switcher. I cannot do it over wifi due to the setup in the office. So some kind of wired solution is preferrable.
Just need som kind of red light when the studio cam is in pgm window on the ATEM 2ME Production studio 4K.
I am not that familiar with the tech behind all this to please speak slowly and clearly :-)

Years ago I created a simple tally system using an Arduino, some DataVideo Tally lights that were pretty inexpensive, and some 3.5mm trs cables. It worked ok for a wired solution, I have a GitHub with the code, tally info and some photos of how it worked if you are curious:

https://github.com/reykroona/Atem-Tally-TD3

It was based on the Skaarhoj Arduino Atem Library, which I think he stopped updating, so I don't know if it would work with the Mini's or Constellations.

I'm sure there are better options out there now but at the time this was the best I could figure out for the price.
