ATEM Mini Pro Factory Reset

PostMon Apr 28, 2025 10:00 pm

I've had an ATEM Mini Pro ISO installed at my FOH location in my theatre since September 2020, a BM Micro camera feeds a wide shot of stage and I stream all school concerts to our Vimeo site. Have had no issues for almost 5 years. The little box really is great.
Last week, I hit the stream button and it just blinked. The event was starting in 2 min, so I tried to re-enter the stream key (it's the same key for all my streams) and it did the same thing. Luckily, I do record to a HD from the unit and that worked fine. Uploaded that after the event.
The next day I troubleshooted the issue. Powered off, held mic 1, powered on and plugged into computer. Updated the firmware to what I had, I think 9.51 (not current) and tried again. Same issue. Called our tech dept over and we tested everything, he could see the stream call it, but never connects. Tried goignt o YouTube and it connected, but after a bit, YT claimed the stream was low and then failed. The bandwidth on that port was 800mb. Changed patch port, switch port, even tried the 10gb slot on the switch. Same thing. Read that some issues with the port may have burned up. I can still ping the device and see it is ATEM control panel. We determined that the device had issues. So I ordered another one to replace it. Loaded my backup settings and guess what... Same issue. BZlinking Red Light... I was baffled. Did the same reset on the new one and didn't work. Looked on BM site and downloaded the latest software, connected it and LOOK.... There is now a factory reset button at the bottom! Clicked that, plugged into a working line that my Web Presenter uses in my studio, and it went solid red right away. Did the same with my original, and a TRUE FACTORY reset has brought it back to life. Must have been something hung up in there, and carried into the backup file.
Can't believe it has taken this long to get that button. Everywhere I looked said to do the hold mic 1 and power on to reset the unit. I've now learned it's not a true reset, just a firmware reset. Hopefully, this will help anyone searching for the process like I was. I'll keep the new ATEM as a backup or portable unit for the district.
