Decklink IP 100G connection questions.

PostWed Apr 23, 2025 12:51 am

We are purchasing an LED wall that will need 3x 4k signals sent to it.

The DeckLink IP 100G seems like a good playback card.

The LED wall takes IP 25G via fiber. Standard LC.

We have some fiber run from our control booth to our backstage area. The control booth is where the Computer powering the feed will be located.

We are thinking of getting the following to convert from the 100G connection into 4x 25G.

QSFP28 SIde (1) - https://www.fs.com/products/65221.html
SFP28 Side (x4) - https://www.fs.com/products/212121.html ... id=3856132
Loft Y Patch Cable (1) - https://www.fs.com/products/312575.html ... id=4232002

Could we get any indication that this system would work?

Probably not UNLESS your Ledprocessor is ST2110 compatible ;)
But since you do not tell the Brand and model of the Processor it's hard to tell.

The Decklink IP 100G is a Full ST2110 card. An IP video protocol that is just rissing.

Altho a LOT of users report that the BMD ST2110 is difficult compatible with any other brand and a lot of compatibility issues arrise.

I would rather go for a more conventional approach by using Fiber converters to convert the Videocard direct to Fiber. ( 3 ports of 4K ) Also keep in mind that you need a video card that has sync across the 3 outputs.. Otherwise you will notice tearing artifacts on your ledwall.

The processor is a NovaStar H9. So there are many options, including a 2110 input.

System uses Genlock so we are good there.

Thank you. Anyone from the source able to say if the solutions we picked should work to a 25G fiber 2110 card?

This is a user forum with only a hand full of moderators. But to be honest.. Look at the majority of ST2110 topics in this forum and you will see that everybody is in the Dark about ST2110 in general, Lot of users with questions why there 2110 setup does not work..
And there is no real help, No white papers or demo configs that explain if you do this it ALWAYS works..

The lack of info from BMD on the whole ST2110 setup and hardware is pretty Magic indeed..
And i we have seen this before with the Teranex Mini IP range. Which was a TICO Video over IP. Where they had a working version on the shows.. But people in the forum always complained they could not get it to work, had issues the boxes did not find each other, Timing clock issues due to lack of knowhow about how to set it up properly. That product never really made it in the market as people had too many issues and no proper support was given..

7 years later ST2110 is knocking on peoples door.. Released to the big market by BMD.. and still no proper Whitepapers and know working configs..
Resulting in a LOT of people with many questions and no support to answer in depth user questions..

Well, I was hoping someone from BMD engineering would be able to answer this. SMPTI 2110 is supposed to be a standard that BMD didn't start. I was hoping for at least a little clarity on the situation.

Use a PTP capable (IEEE 1588v2) switch, master clock, and ST2110 works fine. With the hodge podge of adapters and SFPs you’ve put together who could say unless they’ve tried that config. Do you plan on using a switch and clock, or is the assumption that this will work automagically in a point to point (the other PTP) configuration?

Good Luck

We are looking to get the BMD switch and pass the 100G out the second port to this config.
