After a lot of back-and-forth with our wall's controller manufacturer, we've all come to the conclusion that a Mac OS update threw everything into a tizzy. We had lost the ability to display images on our wall completely, torpedoing a number of productions.
Tech detail sidebar: We have 3 Ursa Mini Pro 4.6k into an ATEM HD8 ISO. We produce here at 30fps. The wall is YEStech YMG6S-M01NFT 5 cabinets high by 20 wide, controlled by a NOVAStar MCTRL4K, and driven by a Mac Studio pushing it to 5120x1280 @ 60hz. Monkeying with SwitchResX, the sweet video "how do you want to run this display" software, I have not been able to get the refresh rate up anywhere past 72hz or so. Incidentally, the wall controller manufacturer has told us the wall can't be run at 5120x1280, but we've been doing it that way for over a year. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It's taken a while, but we've put the Mac Studio back to the most recent Sonoma (14.7 something) and it all seems to be almost back to normal. Almost because there is a very slow-moving sync bar visible in each of our 3 Ursas and in the control room. No one here has ever noticed the bar before.
Toward that end, I'd like to toss a blackburst generator into the mix with hopes that it would alleviate the slow sync bar.
So, here is my question: The cameras and the ATEM all have "reference in" - if I give blackburst to the LED wall and the ATEM, will the framesync on each camera's input share the sync to the burst, or must I send sync to each camera also?
I hope I explained that clearly. Thanks for reading this far.
