Custom AOI Lines in ATEM Constellation

PostWed May 14, 2025 5:34 am

Hello everyone,

I'm a user of the Blackmagic ATEM Constellation and have been very pleased with its performance. I would like to suggest that future firmware updates include the ability to display custom Area of Interest (AOI) lines directly in the MVR for the director.

This feature would allow marking specific areas within the frame that are particularly important for the director. It could enhance monitoring and directing tasks, making them more precise and efficient.

I'm looking forward to your feedback and discussing this further.

Thank you and best regards!

I don’t know of any switchers that do this natively. We frequently shoot portrait and use a keyer with either a graphic or a wipe for a custom box, usually in conjuction with a clean feed.

Good Luck

Hi there,

Thanks for sharing your insights! It's true that many switchers require workarounds like using keyers for custom boxes. In the case of the ATEM Constellation, there are already AOI Lines available, but they are currently limited to Safe Areas for 16:9 and vertical 9:16 formats.

Expanding the capability to include customizable AOI lines directly in the MVR for directors could potentially enhance workflow efficiency, especially in complex production setups where precise framing is critical.

Looking forward to further developments in this area!

Best regards,
