Unable to stream 2110 from Mini BiDirect 12G

PostWed Apr 16, 2025 8:47 pm

Hi, I'm just getting started with the mini bidirect 12G.

Currently, I'm having no luck getting a SMPTE 2110 stream to flow to a test PC. I have:
  • A 1280x720p60 SDI stream at the input. The "SDI Input Lock" indicator is lit
  • The unit is directly connected to a 10GigE card on the PC. Networking seems to be functioning between the PC and the Mini - I can ping the unit, and it's able to register with an NMOS registry.
  • An instance of easy-nmos is running for the NMOS registration functions

So far, I've been unable to see any data flowing over RTP using either multicast or unicast (using a simple gstreamer pipeline to receive data on the specified address/port), so I'm wondering if there might be something I'm missing, or if there is some extra config required.

Just want to bump this to see if anyone has any thoughts at all?

We still haven't had much luck here. Are there some requirements I'm missing?

The card on the PC is an intel 82599 with a 10g copper SFP installed.

Does the Mini BiDirect REQUIRE a switch in the middle, or a PTP server? Neither of these is present in my setup but I may be able to make a convincing enough PTP server of the PC.

Does the Mini support unicast? It didn't look like it from the "Blackmagic Converters Setup" application, but I was able to set it to a unicast via the NMOS API (but I still did not receive any video packets on the PC).

I'll also bump this.

I just have the converter, no PTP grandmaster.

- SDI lock LED is on.
- I can see it being a PTP clock on my network.
- I can explore the NMOS server in the device and see that the "master_enable" is false.
- I have manual multicast configured.

There is no multicast data being sent by the device.
