GPI Tally interface with Videohub 40x40 12G

PostWed Aug 28, 2024 1:27 pm

Hello. Trying to USE the GPI TAlly box as a Joystick override(switch the inputs with camera RCP). Made everything according to the manual:
1. Reconfigured the box for using with videohub by opening it in the Videohub software with USB connected.
2. Typed the Remote VideoHub Ip. The lamp of the router turned green.
3. Configured the desired inputs and output for the routing.

But the problem is that when I connect the GPI pins to ground (dry contact) nothing happens. I even dont hear the sound of a relay closure. Tried on versions 8.0 and 8.0.1 of the Videohub software. How can I activate it? I have two boxes(one for tally from BM SWR and 1 for Joystick override) and both perfectly work as a tally interface and dont work as GPI for VideoHub.

Does anybody know what I do in a wrong way. Thanks!

I am having the same issue with videohub 12x12.
I called support and they had me update firmware but no response when ground connections were made. Also ran wireshark on the network the videohub and the gpi tally are connected to but saw no packets were going to the router.
I ended up sending the GPI in for potential repair, but also bought another GPI Tally box and the same thing...
I tested my wires and I see the voltage drop on the pins when the button is pressed but nothing.

You shouldn't hear anything on the GPI side, the relays are on the GPO side, the GPI is just voltage and ground.

What RCPs are you using? You should hear the relay click on the RCP touchdown unless you're using a Blackmagic RCP which doesn't have a traditional GPO.

Good Luck

Hello Guys,

i have the same problem with the 120x120 Videohub.

I tried 3 different Tally/ GPI Interface, but got none to work.

I got the feeling that the GPI just cant switch the Videohub, but the manual of the Videohub clearly states it can.
Im loosing my mind over this.

Any updates or solutions?

Greets.

After much fighting with this today and more of a reference when future me has this problem again, you need to download an old version of Video Hub setup, I am using 6.3.1, which gives you Hardware Panel Setup as a utility.

That lets you do all you wish, even if the router is on the latest version, it is just for the GPIO box.

Hope this helps someone!

James
