Live Streaming Church Service

PostSun May 18, 2025 2:16 pm

We are going to start live streaming our services for members that are not able to attend. We have two DSLRs that we use to record the service that have 1080 hdmi outs. We have an X32 producer that we use for sound. We use ProPosenter for the slides. What would be needed to start live streaming?

Hi Scott, grateful you're seeking information and wanting to learn.
This forum is more for Blackmagic product specific inquiries.

I would recommend searching on YouTube to learn how to meet your needs.
Channels like ChurchFront, HereToRecord, Aaron Parecki, and PhotoJoseph have great content to get started streaming.

Atem Mini Pro - HDMI. Set your 2 x Cams and your Propresenter computer HDMI out to 1080p. You can then switch between cameras and key Propresenter text over your Program Out/Stream image. The Atem Mini Pro can stream to all prime platforms.

If you wish to record your events, buy the Atem Mini Pro ISO and record all inputs and (or just) the output to an external SSD drive, taking care to buy a BM recommended drive.

Thanks Louis, this is what I was looking for. The cams and Propresenter to ATEM Mini pro by HDMI and then it off streaming. Sounds to simple. Just curious is there a way to color correct or convert a log feed on the go for streaming?

ATEM switchers do not offer the ability to apply input colour correction to non Blackmagic cameras.

To colour correct sources, you'd need to instead look at the likes of vMix. But that means the combined cost of vMix software, a decent Windows computer and HDMI ingest cards or interfaces.

Decent DSLRs should offer the ability to set colour/white balance internally, and using identical cameras will make them easier to colour match.

Lip-sync. There will be some delay in the video out of the DSLRs. This means that the sound exiting the desk will be in advance of your camera's HDMI out. Your best bet is to take a line out of the X32 (pref using conversion box like this - https://hiveindustries.com/product/atbb ... g-bal-box/) into the Mini-Jack in of the ATEM switcher. Then using the ATEM Software Control audio page, adjust the delay feature to align the desk audio and camera image sync. YouTube is a good resource for this process, if it's something you're not familiar with.

Thank you for all the info. That is definitely more than we want to do at the moment. But its great to know. We will get the cams as close as we can internally and go on down the road. Hopefully we will be up and running this Sunday.
Thanks again.

In regards to audio-video sync: The atem software (free with any of the video mixers including the atem mini line) allows you to delay audio as needed. It's under the audio tab.
