4k to 1080 converter

PostThu Jun 05, 2025 2:04 am

I need to send a 1080 feed to a Teradek from my live 4K production.
I asked my supplier who suggested a BMD Multiview 4 or a Decimator 12G-CROSS 4K HDMI/SDI Cross Converter. Both seem overpriced for what I need.

Any less costlier solutions?

Which Atem do you have? If it is a constellation it will take HD and upconvert itself to 4K.

If anything else then yes you need a Decimator 12G-Cross Or the new UDC 12G from BMD which is not yet out..

Depends on the quality you need but a number of UHD HDMI splitters include 1080p downscaling functionality (so you can use a 2160p source with a 2160p TV and a 1080p projector or AVR etc.)

The output may be an aliasy mess - I've not tried it on mine - and you may end up in a YCbCr 4:2:2 vs RGB/4:4:4 minefield - but it's a cheap solution if it works for you.
