ATEM Mini Extreme HDMI out not working (Software?)

PostTue Jun 10, 2025 5:23 pm

We suddenly noticed our HDMI 2 was not outputting a signal. We don't use that output daily so we are not sure when it stopped working.
To troubleshoot it, we changed project settings, cleared the Startup State, restarted it, factory reset it, and everything we could think of.
Before assuming the HDMI port was dead, we tested it with the 5 monitors we have... It worked with the only monitor we had never used it with before, the teleprompter monitor.
What's the deal? Any suggestions?

Could it be a software issue? A hardware issue?

Unfortunately, I can not use it with that one monitor because it's specifically for the teleprompter.

Thanks,

Unfortunately the HDMI output chips on these are known to die. HDMI out 1 on my extreme ISO is dead, but it went out slowly, going from glitchy to intermittent to working with only one particular monitor, then none at all, as you describe with yours.
Official repairs are not economical (i.e. they won't do it). But the HDMI output chip itself is <$10 if you have the skills to DIY replacing a small surface mount IC.

Pete, thanks a lot for your response. I never saw the notification of your comment.

Yeah, this repair process is too much for us. I may just keep the ATEM as a spare, but unfortunately, I may need to purchase a new one - we are looking at the G2.

Thanks for the video.
