Broadcast Engineer Question: Black Magic Studio Converter

PostWed Jun 25, 2025 5:53 pm

If I split out a RJ-45 to the individual wires to connect to an old Clear-Com talkback system, which wire connects to which port? There are 5 ports: left and right Receiver, left and right trans and the other is likely ground on the back of the Clear-Com station.

Thanks! I attached a document with the excerpt from page 114 and a picture of the back of our Clear-Com. Do you know which pin goes into each of the 5 green slots? The green slots that have cables in it in the photo is the current connection with the [panasonic?] camera control units.

Hello Sara. If the Clearcom connection is a 4 Wire interface then the transmit would be connected to receivers. Ground is not necessary in this case. The polarity will not likely matter since it should be balanced. It should not be a "stereo" feed from the Clearcom (which is not likely anyway) or it will not work. If you have the model of your Clearcom unit and it is searchable on the internet, I would be happy to check it out. I hope this helps.

This looks to be a Clear Com IF4W4, 2 wire to 4 wire interface. The XLR in the photo is likely connected to a 2 wire CC power supply. The terminal block pinout is delineated on the quick start page.
