SDI to HDMI Mini Converter, can I use DVI?

PostSun Sep 02, 2012 4:54 pm

Hi All!

I'm considering the purchase the an SDI to HDMI Mini Converter to add the option of by-passing our video mixer in our live environment and display a Mac source on our projectors. Our projectors are plugged into a legacy Kramer scaler, it works well but lacks SDI and HDMI inputs. Can I use the SDI to HDMI Mini Converter with an HDMI to DVI cable, and then use that with my scaler? Theoretically this should work, but has anyone tried it?

Thanks!

technically it depends on if your display supports YUV colourspace via DVI - lots of them do but cheaper ones tend not to and will give a purple colour output by displaying the YUV pixels in an RGB space.
