Is the URSA Broadcast still being produced?

PostSat Sep 25, 2021 9:01 pm

Hi,

I‘m asking, since you can‘t buy them anymore in Germany? Every dealer I asked said, that they don‘t know when they will have them in stock / can‘t order them themselves.

It really would be nice from BMD if they could finally say something about this.

Or will there be a new model?

I suspect an 8K broadcast is coming, after the price went down for the 12K

Bmd told my supplier that they are unable to get hold of the chipsets and so no broadcasts until that is resolved.
Similarly the micro 4k which uses the same sensor, that's why it has been removed from their website.

hmm. then maybe they are re-designing it to use the same sensor as the new studio cameras...

Doubtful, as the Studio camera sensor is a MFT size, while the broadcast is ostensibly a 2/3" inch camera - but actually using a sensor which is half way between 2/3rds and MFT by using optics. Going to MFT with optics would probably destroy sharpness and reduce light hitting the sensor.

Í highly doupt they will cancel the broadcast because it is the camera closest to ENG, but who knows.
