Studio Monitor mount, best practice?

PostMon Dec 05, 2022 2:33 pm

I'm looking for a solution to mount the studio monitors much lower. So the G1/G2 cam ops do not get a stiff neck when the camera is high on a tripod.

I got a few ideas by using a superclamp, but maybe someone already has a great solution on hand.

what i did was remove the handle completely, unscrew the vmount from the handle attachment, attach vmount directly to top of cam. this will block your XLR inputs, but since i never use em, it works for me.

Thx for the reply. We currently use the studio mounts on the studio fiber converters. But since we often have to shoot above crowds it would be cool to mount it bellow the tripod head or to the tripid handles.

gotcha. another option: if you use VCT plates on your tripods, you could potentially screw the vmount plate that came with the monitor to the underside of the VCT plate. all depends how your gear is balanced and if you have the underside exposed at the back.

thats my guess about what this guy is doing: https://images.blackmagicdesign.com/ima ... ochine.jpg

im not near my gear at the moment so cant verify that would work.

Best practice is to have your camera platform at the required height, so you don't have to compensate by using undesirable tripod height.

Yes that is always the best and preferd way to place the camera on a plattform but that is also often not possible.

A dual sided arri rosette with a mounting plate inbetween would probably also work out pretty well...hmmm..
