4 M/E Constellation HD - Dreadful Multiview Output at 1080i

PostThu Sep 28, 2023 8:23 pm

Hey Guys

Has anyone had issues with running the Constellation HD in 1080i?

No matter what monitors I use to run 2 multviews, the picture quality on the grid is dreadful - really jagged edges on everything. I'm using Blackmagic SDI to HDMI converters but having tried a Decimator, I had the same issue.

I tried swapping the multiview output to one of the main outputs on the Constellation and the picture is perfect so it seems to be something wrong with the multview outputs when used in 1080i.

I've tried changing the video standard to 1080p and this does solve the issue but I need to be working in 1080i.

Shoot, so no solution?

Totally regretting upgrading from the original 2 M/E where the multiview was perfect in 1080i. So many backward steps with this latest model.

Amazed it made it out of the factory like this

solution is to run 1080p60 and use a decimator to format the output to 1080i

Has anyone checked if the quality is better in the 9.2.1 firmware?
I have noticed that they changed how the borders and labels are drawn in this firmware (on a Constellation HD 2ME), but I havent had a chance to evaluate the quality of the sources.

Great shout Julusian, just upgraded to 9.2.1 and the picture quality is perfect now in 1080i - massive relief, thanks for the push!

It's a nice touch that the labels now change colour (green & red) when a source is previewed or on program, plus you can now once again remove labels completely on program and preview.

Although the jagged round edges on the label background is still there and feels cheap compared to the really clear and sharp labels on the original BMD ATEM's. Plus, it's annoying that when you display the safe lines on preview, you have no choice but to now have a 19x6 guide line too.
