I've seen people here running 8.1 on the old hardware, but AFAIK the last version with any updates for the 1st gen ATEMs was 7.5.2 (added cam panel hardware). we are still running 6.9 on our 1st gen ATEMs (both 2M/E models) it is very stable if you don't need camera panel or new advanced control panel.

Be Adviced, Some people reported that the USB capture function does not work anymore in latest few firmware builds..
Also Program & Preview get renamed to BLACK BLACK and is not change-able anymore.

Also since support stopped on these units. Please be very carefull when upgrading. If it fails to upgrade. The unit is dead and wont be able to revive it anymore. ;)

The best version to keep the legacy 1.5G ATEMs at is 7.5.2.

I stopped at 7.3 when I found it wouldn't recognise the next version.

Following. I just bought one used. I cannot even connect to it and plugging in a USB cable does nothing. Might it be bricked?

Why does the device prompt you to upgrade to a version that does not work?

I have the old model upgraded from 7.5.2, to 8.1.1, and 8.1.2. Because of the Black/Black issues I went back to 7.5.2. I could upgrade over IP, no need for the USB cable.

I am new to this forum and using the ATEM - I have an older ATEM Television Studio and need to:
-Check firmware version
-Update the firmware if possible to the appropriate version

I am currently not seeing any video output from my inputs into SDI or HDMI and the resolutions I see in the ATEM Software Control software application (version 8.1.2) settings are 720p50, 720p59.94, 1080i50 and 1080i59.94

I read that one of the firmware update versions will add 60hz frame rates.

Can any one assist with this please

Thank You

Can a software newer than 7.5.2 be successfully used on the old ATEM TV Studio? Mine is at 6.9 and I'd like to update to the latest usable. Does anyone have the 7.5.2 file they can share with me?

MBJamAVC, I don't know if the F/W version could be causing problems, but make sure all your input resolutions are the same as what you have set on the ATEM settings.

7.5.2 is probably the best version to use on the legacy ATEM models. It is still available on the Website in the Support section. To answer another question. On the Television Studio, the HDMI inputs will accept a 60Hz signal as long as the resolution matches. The SDI inputs do not.

Is there even such a thing as 60Hz SDI? I thought 69Hz was only for computer displays.

I see 60Hz SDI on a lot of devices. Cameras based on security device chipsets that don't support SMPTE standards are cheaper, tons of devices on the low $ end sporting those. A lot of the PTZ Optics cameras only support 60Hz SDI, not 59.94. Putting a 60Hz computer into a straight HDMI>SDI box will yield a 60Hz SDI feed.

So, it happens-frequently. Thanks goodness for boxes like the Decimator.

Gary, I'd like to invest in a Hollyland Mars 400S. Apparently, it will do 1080i at 50, 59.94 but I'm seeing in the reviews that it won't work with some switchers, so I don't trust B&H's description of the specs. It could be that they're using an old TV Studio. If the other cameras are doing 59.94 will all of the still be recognised by the TVS if the Hollyland is running 60?

The Mars 400S Pro correctly sends exactly what it receives. It doesn't round up from 29.97/59.94 to 30/60 which is what so e earlier Hollyland units were reported to do.

The 400S Pro model works in 1080i and 1080p with the TVS HD set appropriately.

I don't have the regular 400S version but the Pro works fine.
