Mini Converter SDI to Audio -> Audio Delay?

Hey Wizards,
I understand from tech support this unit does introduce 4 lines of latency on the SDI loop out...wondering if the Audio Outs have a corresponding lag in milliseconds?

If so, what would that number in ms be?

If it's the same percentage on from an HD signal, I'm guessing around 4ms?

Many thanks!
Jacob

Hello Jacob. I believe the latency described would be for the audio out. The loop out is negligible or under a microsecond which is very tiny. Even 4 lines is hardly measurable and cannot be seen.

for 1080p29.97, 4 lines of delay = 0.12 ms.

for 1080p59.94, 4 lines of delay = 0.06 ms.

there is no delay compensation built into the BMD product, but this delay is small enough that it is something you don't need to be concerned about.

Great, thanks!

I do have the similar questions for the SDI to HDMI 6G Mini Converter...

Will the HDMI out be delayed compared to the SDI loop out?

And, same answer I suppose, that the audio will be negligible?

Appreciate you Wizards!

Jacob

All SDI Loops are a reclock of the SDI in so they will have no delay (other than microscopic). The conversion to HDMI will be from a few lines and if scaling the image will be a frame.
