Issues with FaceBook Live Stream Cam Settings

I am attempting to Facebook Live stream.

Mac Os Catalina. MacBook Pro mid 2012.
BMD Desktop Video Setup V 11.5
BMD Media Express V 3.6.1
BMD Converters V 7.4.1
BMD Web Presenter V 1.2

BMD Intensity Extreme (thunderbolt / HDMI)

So - What I know - Settings for BMD apps and Nikon D500: 720P 50fps.

BMD Media Express recognizes the device and displays video signal! HOWEVER, FML, I can not get Facebook live, using Chrome, to display a video signal from the setup. Instead, I receive this error: "Please connect your device and verify correct permissions in your browser."

So I verified that facebook was allowed to access camera and microphone from browser and through Apple System preferences > security & privacy > camera and microphone. To no avail. Facebook live will recognize that the BMD is there but will not display the video like the BMD media express displays the video.

Any help is appreciated. I will test again in the morning.

I'm guessing the problem is that Media Express uses a Blackmagic-specific application SDK to access the video capture device, but regular web browsers do not have direct support for this Blackmagic-specific interface. Instead web browsers are generally geared toward taking video from webcams which are typically USB Video Class (UVC) devices (which use a more generic interface that is not manufacturer-specific).

There have been some earlier reports of this not working with other Blackmagic capture devices here:

I would suggest using streaming software like OBS Studio (free) or Wirecast (paid), both of which do have direct support for Blackmagic capture devices and are capable of streaming to Facebook Live.

Correct.. BMD capture cards are not able to be connected direct as a webscam service. Need OBS to other streaming software to hook into FB to stream to it. ;)
