Hi guys,

Forgive my ignorance as I've not had a chance to use the Atem Mini Pro (or Mini for that matter) just yet but I am considering buying one. I've been searching the forum and all over Google and can't find an answer to the question if I can output from it as vertical video firstly, and then if there's a way to do it to Instagram Live (two separate albeit obviously related questions).

First of all.. No you can not change to 9:16 mode in ANY atem...

2nd let me know how you want to stream to Instagram from an external hardware streamer? Because as far as i know instagram does not support RTMP streams direct from other devices.. Also seems that the Atem mini Pro only supports Youtube, Facebook and Twitch streaming at the moment.

See when he select the Youtube profile.. You can see it only supports 3 Platforms and NO RTMP at all.
Check the stream at 50:20

The Atem Mini Pro does support custom RTMP streams. You configure it in the XML file, then it will appear in the dropdown (or you can remove those you don't want to appear). The stream explains this at 54:35:

Since Instagram doesn't allow direct RTMP streams, it shouldn't work directly. But maybe indirectly through some intermediary service...?

And please, I implore you, please help stem the tide of vertical videos. It's a scourge that must be stopped at the earliest point.

unless you are creating content for the millions of people that consume verticle video on there phones......

We don't want to get in the way of creative people for sure. You will be able to do custom RTMP using the XML file for the Mini Pro. These custom sites will appear in your menu list for streaming. While XML isn't for everyone, I'm sure we should be able to help many people on this Forum get by.

As you can see Earl, 8 years later and there's no stemming the vertical Videos. People will do what people do, and people's lawful expression doesn't need to be controlled nor does it invade your personal space. It is of course the attention and demand that controls the vertical climb.
