Recommended Streaming settings

PostThu May 21, 2020 1:24 am

Sorry in advance for the newbie question. But, does anyone have any recommended upload speed settings for an internet upload speed of 1.2 mbps?
I have updated the xml file to stream 540p, but I'm not sure what bitrate to use, or if I should change it to 24 fps. I am uploading the stream to restream, then broadcasting from there to facebook & youtube.

1.2Mbps is not a lot to work with. I agree with what Roman and would suggest that you run some tests to see which settings work the best for your use case.

Im using this settings mostly :

When streaming to my WOWZA (no recompression, x264 encoder) :
270p - 500kbps
540p - 1300 kbps
720p - 2000 kbps
1080p - 3000 kbps

When streaming to Youtube, Favebook, Vimeo (they have recompression) :
720p - 4000 kbps
1080 - 6000 kbps

When streaming for broadcasting (Qvidium Encoder, with ARQ) :
Depend from quality of leased line , but mostly :
1080i - 10-12mbps ..

All this settings are for hight quality encoder .. If quality is worse , U need high bitrate .. Everytime U need to do test quality .. It depends from your program .. If its discussion, with low motions and changes , then low bitrate is OK .. If it is sport, or live concert , where are high motion scenes , u need hihg bitrates ..
