Hi,

Can I use the ATEM Mini Pro to stream to Facebook Live without having a computer connected?

Thank you for your replies.

You can use the Atem mininpro to stream send the viseo to facebook but you still need to use a computer to verify that there is live video fees before you click go live. Simple answer: you still need a computer/laptop.

OK. Does this mean that I need to connect it one time to enter password and other details...but never need a computer connected again?

I was under the impression that a computer wasn't needed (which is part of the benefit over the ATEM Mini). Does a computer need to be connected at all times to do a stream to Facebook Live?

Yes, once you setup your stream info in the ATEM and save it for startup, it should be there each time you start. But the ATEM Mini Pro still needs an internet connection.

I am regularly using the AMP without a PC.

Basically everything in the setup dialog as well as the streaming destination and bitrate is saved and does not require a PC connection.

The upstream, downstream, and all the Fairlight / mixer settings will reset without ATEM Control Software connected.

Thank you for your replies. I appreciate it.

I know that an internet connection is needed to stream. Also, that a computer is required for all/most live graphics.

We want to connect two HDMI cameras to the ATEM Mini Pro, then stream to Facebook Live. Nothing fancy or taxing on the ATEM at all.

BMD support told a colleague that to stream to Facebook Live with the ATEM Mini Pro, a computer was required to either start or stop the stream (can't remember which). Is that correct?

Ideally, I will connect the computer one time to enter credentials/settings, then stream without any computer connected after that. Just the HDMI cameras, the ATEM Mini Pro, and an ethernet cable. Please let me know if I am missing something.

Maybe they meant that you need to stop and start the actual stream on Facebook? I think at least on youtube you need to actually be logged in to your account and actually press start and stop screen... Maybe when you stream to facebook using a streamkey you have to do that too? (The ATEM Mini Pro cannot log into your facebook account, it only streams using a streamkey...)

My experience with Facebook is as follows, and I think this can work with the ATEM (don't have it yet, still researching if it'll fit our use case re: this very question).

Set Facebook to use a Static/Constant/Persistent Stream Key
Set Facebook to End Stream if Feed is Interrupted

This setup shouldn't require a computer. However, the next step, I should think, is vital.

Schedule a Live Video from a computer prior, to go live at the time you desire. This will go live so long as it detects a signal at the time.

So long as you've set Facebook to End the Steram when the feed's interrupted, it should work for you to simply disable from the ATEM. The only downside is that if the internet fails temporarily your stream will be ruined. When I'm on a computer I always uncheck to end the stream automatically, in case of connectivity issues.

All of this I think requires that one "hack" the XML file to allow for custom RMTP streaming, since we don't want the ATEM to just go live to Facebook without a video title or description.

Thoughts?

Doesn't look like you need a custom RTMP.

Seems it just feeds into Facebook. Unlike Restream, it doesn't actually "Go Live" from the device. It just sends the live video data to Facebook/Youtube/etc. Learned that from PhotoJoseph on YouTube just now. Great video review & demo.

So, again, if you schedule Facebook to Go Live @ 9:50 AM, it'll be looking for live video data to come in to start. So long as it receives it from the ATEM, you should be good to go. I believe it gives you a 15 minute window before it closes the stream.

Hi, I am also looking to stream without a computer attached. I would like to set up an Atem Mini Pro to stream weekly to Youtube without needing to connect a PC and configure a new stream every week.

My question is that if I was to configure a youtube streaming account to auto-start when it receives an incoming stream then once the stream finishes could another stream be auto started the following week on the same stream key or does a new stream key need to be generated hence a laptop connected every time?

Hope this makes sense and thanks for any help.

If you use persistent stream keys on YouTube, then you can reuse the same streaming settings for multiple streams on different days:
