ATEM Mini Pro recording to drive not working

We have been using the atem mini pro over the last 2 months to stream and record our church services. We had zero issues until now, when last week the recording feature Via usb-c stopped working. When our ssd was plugged in, the light was green (as usual). But this time when we hit record, the light did not turn red but yellow/orange and the mini did not allow us to record. We tried turning power off, rebooting the computer and the mini, but it did the same thing. I even reformatted the drive again to ExFat, and the same thing is still happening. When trying to record, an orange light comes on and it won’t go off unless you power the mini down. I cannot find any information on this issue. Even the atem manual talks about the recording lights and what they mean, but no mention at all of yellow/orange.

This is still not working. Even with the latest 8.4 and 8.5 updates. However when I revert back to the 8.3 version the recording feature works. Help???

I'm having the exact same problem since updating the software to 8.5. I guess I'll reinstall 8.3 and hope the next version works for recording to usb again.

Downloaded the latest update 8.5.2, and the atem still will not record to our ssd. We uninstalled the update, and reinstalled version 8.3 and it works fine. Something with the updates is causing recording issues.

Purchased a Samsung t5 ssd. And updated to the latest ATEM version. The recording still will not work.
We reverted back to the 8.3 update and the recording feature works fine. Its definitely the update causing issues with recording.

first you should a FULL format of the SSD on your computer
then format it in the device again

Im not sure I understand what you mean. Can you explain a little more. We also bought a brand new ssd, formatted it to exfat and had same result.

I don't know what you mean by full or fast format.

This is extremely unhelpful.
To the OP: he means did you do a full format (much slower and longer format option within Windows) or a quick format (the default format that takes only seconds to complete).
There's an option when formatting to choose between the two choices in Windows.
I'm currently having issues with my ATEM Mini Pro ISO recognizing my brand new Samsung T5 after doing both a 'full' and 'quick' format to exFAT. It doesn't even recognize the drive while my computer sees it just fine.

Did you ever find a solution? I am having the same problem except with a Sandisk Extreme 2TB SSD.

I'm having a similar issue when I updated to the latest firmware. I have a SanDisk 1T harddrive formatted in ExPat and when I have 3 cameras plugged in, it records for about 13-ish minutes and then my ATEM Mini Pro starts flashing and stops working completely.
Any thoughts?

Hi everyone,
it seems this thread has gone cold. did anyone get a solution to this?
I'm running the ATEM Mini Pro SDI, it recorded last week with no issues but this week when i pressed record the disk light went yellow (same 1TB USB drive formatted to exFat) and i couldn't seem to do anything about it, pressing stop didn't change anything.
I was able to turn off the ISO recording and then it did record without the yellow light. The only difference form this week to last is I changed the quality from the base 1080 @28 FPS to 1080 @ 60 FPS. I wasn't sure if it was a size issue, but multi view showed 8 hrs of recording time so I'm stumped.
I'd really like to get more info on this issue.
Thanks
Simon

I have an ATEM Mini Pro and when I plug my USB Drive into the USB the drive light turns yellow. I used both quick format and full format for FATex with the same result. I am using a Kingston DataTraveler 100 G3 256 GB. Any help would be appreciated

Interesting, I used an Angelbird AV PRO CF 256 GB card (560 MB/s) in an Angelbird reader using a USB-C cable and everything worked. Perhaps BM should test with fast USB drives as they don't seem to work in the ATEM...

Same here. On an Atem Mini Pro ISO there are no problems, but when I plug the same device into the Mini Pro I have no success.
As other shave said, the devide is recognised, and show up correctly on the multiview display, but it will not record. I also have the bright orange/yellow light that others have described. Given that the disk (Samsung T7) works on the ISO and my computer, I'm very sceptical about suggestions that it is a formatting issue, but will be grateful for suggestions.

I purchased an ATEM Mini Pro on eBay and updated it to the latest firmware (9.5.1) before using it. It came with the original power supply. When I plugged an SSD in, the disk light would turn green, then when I hit record, it would turn yellow. I tried a number of different SSDs (formatted exFAT 128kb) and different USB-C cables. I ordered a 2TB Sandisk Extreme in case that was the issue, but there was no change even when using the USB-C cable it came with. I worried I'd purchased a defective ATEM Mini Pro.
I then found someone here mentioned when they updated from 8.3 to 8.4 or 8.5, they got the dreaded yellow light. So, I downloaded 8.3 and installed the 8.3 firmware. It works perfectly, even with the other SSD drives I had tried. I'm curious if anyone has gotten a later software to work. I hope BM can fix this in future updates.
Also, some people complain about the ATEM Software Control application not working. Mine wasn't working with 9.5.1 ('No switcher connected'), but now works with 8.3.

Same story here, bought an ATEM pro off a legit supplier here in UK, can't get any solid state or hard drive disc to work, just get an orange light.

OK wow, just been getting... somewhere? I've been trying several drives, USB / HDD / SSD etc, and using various leads to plug in etc, but nothing worked. After reading the above, I tried a CF card - via a card reader, and USB to USB-C adaptor... and it worked! Green light on the ATEM and can record to drive.
I tried same card in a different multi-card reader (with multiple card reader slots) and this also worked. Tried some other cards in the multi-reader and these didn't work. Interestingly, when I plugged the multi-reader into my laptop, the CF card is the first drive to appear, so I presume the ATEM can only "see" the first drive slot if it is presented with an array of drives.
I noticed that the CF card default format was "exFAT" using 128kb partitions. I tried formatting the CF card as NTFS and it no longer worked. Now I've tried formatting it back again as exFAT with 128kb partitions and it's working fine again. I then formatted a HDD using these settings and now the HDD also works fine, green light and recording.
Maybe this specific format is required by the ATEM pro but it seems unintuitive not to show a relevant error message on the monitor.

Using Vers 9.6.2 on my ATEM Mini Pro, my big recording project failed. I used a brand new GLYPH Blackbox PRO 4TB external hard drive as Google recommended. I had two PTZ Optics SE cameras and my daddy cam Sony HD camera. All was well as the ATEM showed ready to record. I hit record. After about 30 minutes, the record button started flashing at a fast pace. After the show, I was NOT able to stop the ATEM recording and the flashing button. The MP4 file was only a few gigs and I couldn't view it with ANY viewer. Repair of the MP4 also failed. The project was a failure. I recreated the setup in my living room and it behaved exactly the same--after 30ish minutes, the light started to flash. I could not stop or start the recordings. Google says that my drive is slow. Shutting the drive off/on allowed me to start recording again. Once I stopped the ATEM recording, I couldn't start it. All this testing of power on/off of the hard drive caused the ATEM to hate the drive. When connected to my computer, I couldn't read the hard drive at all (Windows Explorer just spun). I found this thread and followed advice to full-format the drive (deselect the "Quick" checkbox). It took over an hour to format. Problem solved. It works like a champ!
PS It was sad to read the "drama" in this thread. PSS I love these PTZ Optics SE cameras!
