This one is kind of obvious, but I'd like to start the topic here.
One of the biggest consumers of the BMD product catalog is the class of streaming that happens at venues. Not the big boys who have unlimited and discreet bandwidth (and may not even be using BMD products), but maybe those who have to send several streams from one venue with limited budget and bandwidth. Being able to stream via HEVC would be a huge boon for those customers.
Higher quality streams (SRT), with lower bandwidth (HEVC). Sounds like a dream, right? Take the lead BMD!!
BMD has already implemented H.265 in the Duplicator 4K, so the coding is already in the warehouse. If we could add the hardware to the Mini Pro Switchers v.2, that would be amazing for customers.
This also means we'll need SRT built into the switchers. For those current users of ATEM Mini Pro/Extreme, if the hardware doesn't support it, could we get a mini-converter sized box (maybe around $150 USD) with USB-C on one side (video and data), and RJ-45 on the other (streaming)? This way -with a firmware update to the switchers- the ATEM software would recognize the box and light up the option to stream via SRT/HEVC. You could set the bandwidth and destination the same way you do now in the UI (with more capability via XML even). This would save having to use another computer with a capture card importing, compressing to H.265, AND streaming.
