Portable studio upgrade

PostFri Oct 11, 2013 3:59 pm

I have the newtek vt5 and it is not good at all. :(

I need new system.
I'm thinking this setup:
Atem camera converter x4
Studio converter
Fiber
Datavideo se2000
Dtavideo Hardware recorder
Zoom h6 audio recorder/mic

Set have to easy to use. Im using this to record school events.

Are these atem camera converter and studio converter very stable? Record times is 1-4hours, temperature is 20-25C.

Is this setup futureproof?

My cams are just basic 500-1500 € consumer cameras. :)

I don't use the camera/studio converters, but do use the Optical Fiber Mini Converters-which i believe are the same SDI transport as the others minus the fancy cases and intercom/tally features. These units have proven to be rock solid for us. We deploy them in some pretty harsh/outdoor environments (rain/cold/hot) and run continuously for 12+hour/day events over the course of an entire week. No problems to report here...

future proof? who is to say anymore with new formats/technologies popping up every day. i think the broadcast world will be using 720p/1080i for quite some time, so unless you NEED the 4k option I think you are good to go.
