Using a BT Airstep Lite foot switcher with ATEM mini pro

Has anyone used an Airstep Lite switcher with ATEM mini pro to switch cameras? I watch a YT video of someone that has done it successfully, I've followed their instructions and still can't get it to work.
Here's my current step through:
In the ATEM software I check the box for General Midi Control in Preferences.
I have an Airstep Lite BT footswitch controller that's been loaded with the ATEM midi setup by way of BT from my phone on the "Airstep" iOs app.
Then I connected my Airstep Lite using BT to my macbook pro and it's now showing up in the mac BT window.
Then I installed and started Bluetooth Midi Connect on my mac and connected the Airstep Lite to the Bluetooth Midi Connect app.
At this point, I'm told that the Airstep Lite should be controlling the ATEM, but it's not.
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
