Use ATEM with Teams/Zoom without burning a PC screen?

PostWed Apr 28, 2021 4:40 pm

Hello Team,

I am currently thinking how to best bring the ATEM PGR out as screen share into Teams/Zoom/... without having to burn one of my three PC monitors

I am currently run VLC in full screen on one screen and then use the screen share to capture it for the call.

Screen 1: Presented Slides or other content
Screen 2: Power Point Preview with Teams and other apps in the background
Screen 3: VLC captured by Teams

Is their no better way in a single PC setup?

Im talking about Teams, Skype, Zoom, WebEx and not any RTMP services like YouTube, Facebook, Twitter. I think I am right that the web presenter is for the RTMP destinations.

The Webpresenter models also have a USB port which will present itself as a webcam to your PC.

You haven't specified which ATEM model you have but all ATEM Mini's effectively have a Webpresenter built-in. The USB-C port on these models will act as webcam for your PC / Mac.

This is a neat and effective HDMI capture device I use alongside a BMD Ultrastudio Mini Recorder:

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B07 ... UTF8&psc=1

- ATEM PGM SDI into Mini Recorder into Thunderbolt 3
- ATEM PVW SDI into Bidirectional SDI/HDMI Converter into Diwuer HDMI into USB2

This provides two independently switchable inputs into Wirecast streaming software; adding screenshare from Zoom adds a third input, allowing for instance a three-vignette shot.

The Diwuer capture card looks like a webcam and also works reliably into Zoom etc.

I have a ATEM Mini, so their I know how to work with the webcam mode.

But let me show explain the two general ways I see:
a.) Webcam: Typical higher fps, lower resolution, only talker is in main view or just in gallery layout depending on the product and available configs for the host
b.) Screenshare: Typical, lower fps, higher resolution, in nearly every product in the center view for the participants

I feel b.) is the better option. Any other ideas?
