Question About Lenses

PostThu Apr 29, 2021 12:42 am

Hi --

I had a Sony a6400 with a Sony 18-135 lens set to 40mm to shoot my live videos. I just connected a Blackmagic Pocket Cinema 4K with a Sigma 30mm micro four thirds lens.

The Sony lens set to 40mm and, since its an APS-C lens, it should be the equivalent of a 60mm lens. And the Sigma 30mm, since it's a micro 4/3rds lense, should also be the equivalent of a 60mm lens.

But that's not the case. The Sigma 30mm frames me much closer than the Sony lens. It's as if the Sigma lens is zoomed in much more than it should be.

Any thoughts on what's going on? Am I missing something here?

Thanks,
Jamie

Maybe you’ve set the BMP sensor to cropped? That could explain the difference.

If you are shooting BRAW and set your camera to 1920x1080 it will crop the sensor. Switch it to 4k if that is what is happening
Mac mini
Apple M1 chip with 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, and 16-core Neural Engine
