Blackmagic Studio Camera 4K & B4 Adapter & ENG-Cine-Lens

PostThu May 13, 2021 3:51 pm

Hello everybody,
We currently use 3 Blackmagic Studio Cameras with the following lenses in our church:
- 1xOlympus M.Zuiko Digital ED 12-40mm F2.8 and
- 2x Panasonic H-Lumix G X Vario 35-100 mm F2.8.
So far we are also satisfied. However, since these are photo lenses for the time being, we lack the possibility of good zoom moves. (lost focus, ...)
So we are considering purchasing suitable, used B4 zoom lenses. (Budget < 2000€ / Lens)
Unfortunately, we have not found any good recommendations for suitable MFT-B4-Adapters.
What would you recommend? (e.g. Fotodiox Pro B4 Magic Adapter Compatible )
And what experiences have you had with B4 lenses? (e.g. Fujinon HAs18x7.6BMD-DSE)

The next question then will be how to connect the control of the ENG lens to the camera ...

Thank you for your support!

An Ursa Broadcast is going to solve all of the B4 mount issues.

Inexpensive adapters are slow because they are designed to cover a larger image circle than 1". A 2x doubler costs two stops of light. The f1.7 b4 lens is now an f3.4 that's not going to sharpen up until f5.6 or f8.0. For exteriors this shouldn't present much of an issue, interiors are another story. A modest ISO of 400 at f5.6 requires 100 footcandles. This is basically followspot territory.

Good Luck
