Setting the color temperature on Decklink outputs

PostThu Jun 17, 2021 2:39 pm

We'd like to get the output of our Decklink cards to match the color temperature of our URSA Broadcast cameras (using ProPresenter and vMix respectively). Is there an option somewhere to set the color temp of the Decklink outputs in the Desktop Video drivers?

Color temperature and colorspace are two different things. Rec709 and 2020 use D65 white point which is what the Ursa is using as well. The color temperature relates to how the data is arranged, not the white point of the colorspace.

If you want the Decklink to match the Ursa then you need to adjust the color temp of the media not the white point of the output.

Hi Howard,

Thanks for the clarification. I've opened up a feature request for ProPresenter to set the color temperature per output screen(s).

Are you comparing generated white from the camera or some arbitrary white balance settings?

Generated white from the Switcher, Graphics, and Cameras should all match without any need for adjustment.

If the Decklink white isn't exactly the same as switcher white then something is incorrect.

FYI if you bypass the Decklink and use the Mac's native outputs you can change the output color temperature using the Display Calibrator Assistant in the Displays Prefs. These are the kinds of adjustments (user errors) the decklink is designed to avoid.

Good Luck
