Anyone have any experience and success decoding NDI cameras to be used with and Blackmagic switchers? If so, what brands have you had luck with, what troubles have you run into? I am looking at the BidrDog 4k Quad NDI Encoder/Decoder but would like to hear from others if you have had good luck decoding the four individual signals using them. If you have used them, do you have to use a computer to assign the IP address of the cameras to a specific output on the unit?
Thanks in advance!

Hey,
until now, we have good experiences with the Bird-dog equipment. with the birddog-studio-ndi converter you should make a good deal.
do you have any other inputs? alternatively, you could use a software mixer like vmix. so you dont need to convert your NDI-cams.
best,
felix

Thanks, Felix for your comments. And glad to hear that Bird Dog has worked for you.
We don't currently own a Blackmagic switcher, just looking into getting into it as opposed to the Tricaster system we are currently on. But we have to have NDI for our cameras due to the distance between the hardware... As for the additional software, I will keep that in mind. I don't want to get it too complicated so the most convenient/easiest to use option is best for me.
Thanks

I have been using this quad decoder this year with 3 x Ursa Broadcasts into a Reckeen 3D Studio XR system for live event streaming. We use a Netgear 10G switch and all works fine on the whole, BUT, make sure that no other kit is on that network and if possible, use your own internet router with a direct line out if live streaming. The only time we experienced issues was when live streaming via a clients' office internet and it slugged the BirdDog Quad NDI feeds so badly, the images became unusable. In that instance, we had to run SDI feeds as back-up.

If I use a birddog encoder/decoder with a blackmagic pocket cinema camera to bring the signal to an atem mini extreme, using the birddog on both the camera and the atem could I use the camera controls on the atem?
