Can I plug the ATEM Mini directly into my laptop?

PostSun Jul 18, 2021 1:48 am

I want to buy one of the ATEM Mini's. I will be working remotely and have to use wifi. I would like to plug the ATEM Mini directly into the laptop with USB. Then I will use it with Zoom. Does the ATEM Mini have to be plugged into ethernet or can I use it with this configuration? This is my first time getting into multicamera's and it is for my club so we can Zoom our meetings in person to the members that can't make it to the meeting. Can I use the camera with my laptop with the ATEM Mini? I am planning on using 2-4 camera's. Can you help me figure out what the best solution would be, I am ready to buy.

Thank you,

Yes, all ATEM Mini models will work in webcam mode, aka USB UVC (Universal Video Camera) when plugged into a computer that supports this. If you can see the webcam in your app (Zoom, Youtube, Facebook), then you should be able to see the Program feed from ATEM Mini. You will use either the buttons or ATEM Software Control to switch cameras.

I would advise Herculean efforts to change that.

Wired connections with at least 20 Mb/s Up is a good goal for streaming.
My Biases:

You NEED training.
You NEED a desktop.
You NEED a calibrated (non-computer) display.
