H.264 Pro Recorder Not Detected by Desktop Video Setup

The H.264 Pro Recorder is not detected by Desktop Video Setup. In the same machine, Desktop Video Setup does see an Intensity Pro capture card and a Decklink 4k Extreme 12G.

Although Desktop Video Setup doesn't see it, both MediaExpress and MXPTiny can see it and record from it. I tried a second machine with a second H.264 Pro Recorder and I see the same behavior (not detected by Desktop Video Setup but detectable and usable by apps).

• Should Desktop Video Setup detect the H.264 Pro Recorder?
• How can you find out the firmware version that's on the H.264 Pro Recorder?

BlackMagic Support say that Desktop Video Setup won't detect recording devices, only video capture devices so I'm guessing this is working as designed.
