"No signal" from external monitor

Is my unit kaput?

Problem:
ATEM output via USB cable is fine but no audio and blinking/no video on my external monitor

Tried:
Switching monitors
Switching cables (two HDMI and an HDMI-to-DVI)
Plugged DSLR directly into monitor via HDMI and it worked fine.
Restarted ATEM
Restored an old set of preferences

Conclusion: something is wrong with HDMI out port on ATEM.

Any other possible problem? Any possible fixes? I bought this in May of 2020 so I'd be very disappointed if it doesn't last longer than that...

Can you list the monitor model?
It could it be the refresh rate. I've had some issues with monitors not accepting low refresh rates, but they would be fine at 1080p60. Maybe switch to 60 and see if it works like that?

perhaps a frame rate set on the ATEM that the monitor does not understand?

Frame rate is a thought. Although it was working and then it wasn't and I don't recall changing that. Still, worth a check.

"ATEM output via USB cable" What I mean is that the output as a webcam (via USB cable) works fine. I show up properly in Zoom and can be heard; I just can't see myself on the monitor, which is a pretty big deal with my setup.

FWIW, I have tried changing the frame rate and that helped but I really do think I have a hardware problem. I also have no audio getting to the monitor--again, my audience can hear it, but I need to hear it too. My last-ditch effort is to get a USB-C to HDMI cable and cross my fingers that I can monitor through that USB-C port.

Otherwise, it looks like I am dropping another $300 on a streamer :x

Don't waste your money, this won't work.

Have you tried the HDMI output with a known good working TV? Many cheaper monitors are very fussy about input resolutions. Are you getting a picture now, just no audio or is the output completely blank? If no audio, are you 100% that a good level is being passed through the Atem and all your cables are correct? (If you have a balanced-to-unbalanced cable issue this can result in screens with a single speaker not playing any audio, even if people with stereo speakers can hear clearly).

That said, we have had a couple of Atem Mini's sent back with broken HDMI outputs and replaced under warranty. If you can't get a signal to any screen then I'd be getting in contact with support or your retailer.

I find the BM Video Assists to be invaluable for chasing down these kinds of issues, because it provides information on the video and audio signals.

Thank you all for your assistance. To answer your questions, yes, I had tried different monitors, different cables, different cameras, different resolutions. The thing is, it was working fine for about 16-17 months and then the audio just went out. Then I started having image issues.

I just bought a new Mini (not the Pro) and all is well again, so I think we can conclude without a doubt that it was a hardware problem. I have a gig on Saturday and so I couldn't risk having an issue here.

Considering I'm just outside of the warranty period, I don't expect to get any love from my local retailer or Blackmagic Design but I will try.
