Playing media with hyperdecks: what format ?

PostFri Oct 08, 2021 5:18 am

Hello

I just aquired the hyperdeck mini hd plus for playing prores4444 files I do create with Keynote from transparent slides.

Recording works great, but files I upload by ftp or put directly on the sd card are not listed on the atem and look like ignored by the hyperdeck.

In fact, any .mov whatever the codec can’t be played.

Did I miss something ? Thank you

In order to play ProRes files the Hyperdeck must be set to record in ProRes as well. It doesn't really matter what ProRes format you choose. Also make sure to not use any accented characters or any non-ASCII in your filenames as this will also cause the Hyperdeck to not see the files.

Oh... does it mean I cannot just playback any mp4/mov files I created on MacBook (with Davinci Resolve) and then plug a SD/SSD with these videos into Hyperdesk for playback?

Currently Hyperdecks do not play MP4 files generated by any desktop software. BMD has promised an update that should add this. Not sure anymore if they will add this capability to all models.

ProRes 422 / 4444 definitely works fine. I think you should also be able to export DNxHD (Avid) files and play them on a Hyperdeck.

Hello,

after a big headache, i found a solution to play files from Davinci resolve...

First point : the player won't work if you have different formats in the sd card.

my process is very simple on a PC (not MACp: export from da vinci resolve a quicktime file.

then open Shutter Encoder, a french high quality (free) encoder. and convert to prores / type 422

configure the hyperdeck mini on proResHQ
and that's done!
the images of the clips appears on the hyperdeck mini screen!!!

:D
