USB-to-HDMI

PostWed Oct 20, 2021 4:37 pm

Good afternoon!

I'm currently using a Logitech C920 webcam, which is USB-based. The ATEM Mini only includes HDMI ports. Will a USB-to-HDMI adapter work? Or do I need to change/upgrade to an HDMI-based camera? If the latter, does anyone have a product recommendation?

Thanks!

USB webcams won't work with most standard USB to HDMI adapters as both devices (the webcam and the USB to HDMI adapter) were designed to connect to a computer. They weren't really designed to connect to each other. There is some more information about this in these threads:

You are probably better off getting a regular camera or camcorder that has an HDMI port and can output a clean HDMI signal (without icons or overlays). Many traditional cameras have better video quality than most webcams anyway. It's difficult to recommend a specific camera though as there are lots of options to choose from and so it kind of depends on your budget, what you are shooting, and how you plan on using the camera.
